"It was supposed to be the safest room in the house"
Would you buy a house of 4,000 square foot worth low as you expected? A house with 4 floors and a lots of rooms? And here's the catch, one of those rooms is very unique. Would you or not?
Meg Altman played by Jodie Foster, a recently divorcee from a wealthy man bought a house at the Upper West Side Manhattan. Together with her daughter Sarah which is portrayed by Kristen Stewart move into the house. The house was previously owned by an eccentric multimillionaire who had come up the idea of making a "safe room". This multimillionaire had put something to this room. Nobody knows what thing is it. The owner has a grandson named Junior played by Jared Leto who used to recruit two friends to steal the "thing" inside that room. Junior recruits Secutity expert Burnham played by Forest Whitaker and the greedy man Raoul portrayed by Dwight Yoakum to help him get it out. The bad guys thought that there is nobody in the house. The problem is Meg has been awakened in the middle of the night and found out that there were three strangers sneaking in her new house. She hurriedly get Sarah in her room, unfortunately the thieves noticed it. What follows next is a cat and mouse race. Run here and there. Then Sarah's idea pumped in "Mom, in the Panic Room!". They locked themselves inside but the criminals rerally want to get in. Sarah who used to have diabetes was unexpectedly attacked by her sickness. Meg sneaked out to get some insulin but Burnham and Raoul found their way to get in. Meg forced herself to throw the insulin inside. Can you imagine that?
Panic room is a suspense thriller movie that executes and exercise tension scenes. The main character Meg Altman is a strong woman that fits to the cycle of the environment. Though honestly in the first place when I've watched the movie I can't understand why she chooses to buy and lived in a huge house knowing that they are only two. Anyways, the character made me realized that you can do anything, to the extent that you can kill somebody who want to destroy your family. My favorite scene, where Meg was begging for the criminals to cure her daughter made me cry. The scene is very realistic and the lines were so true. The line "Give her a shot. Please give her a shot!" is very warming to me. I can't forget this line. To some people this line is nothing but for me this is something that capturedmy atention. For you to beg to criminals you don't know and you're not sure if he gonna do it or not. It was amazing. Risky but great.
Why Meg choose to live in the house? This is my question. What's the sense of killing Junior? And here's Burnham a sympathetic bad guy, who doesn't want to hurt anyone. Honestly I'm not convince by his role. On the other hand, Meg has a stronger persona than the bad guys, how come? While Sarah is a little bit annoying because of her stubborness. Lastly the blood exposures is too disgusting.
Panic Room is Directed by David Fincher. According to my research Panic Room is his weakest film and I don't believe that. The movie made me shout " Ay naku!", " Wag kang lalabas!", and "Takbo, bilis!". The movie is able to make you feel in action. Jodie Foster's performance is terrific. I think no one can replace her as Meg Altman. Dwight Yaokam did a remarkable job, he twisted the story, killing your boss? how was that? The same as Forest Whitaker who did a good job. Also to Kristen Stewart though she's just 12 in doing the movie, she portrayed a great role.
Fincher bruoght great actors to fulfill his masterpiece, it creates fear, tension and terror.
