It's amazing how a TV movie immediately had a cult following and eventually create a culture among its fans. And I have to admit, I'm one of its fans despite my age.
Clueless on what I'm talking about? Well I'm talking about the High School Musical series, which recently had its sequel, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, turned into a big screen movie. Same cast, same setting, brand-new drama, not to mention a wider screen.
The movie still follows the story of Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) and other East High Wildcats as they trek down their last year in high school. Of course, you already knew what usually happens in the last months of your high school life, but it's an entirely different thing when it's the Wildcats in the story.
Technical wise, there is no difference from the first two movies, and essentially it follows the same format that the first two adapted. But hey, if ever the format was changed a bit, it might ruin the HSM spirit, right?
The cast's personalities also matured a bit in the movie, considering that it has been two years since the story of the first movie occurred. They may be the same people, but the way the plot turns will tell that they are still the same people that we loved - only better.
It's so sad that the gang that we learned to love are finally graduating, so we have to say goodbye to them. But hey, the story dictates that there's a bright future waiting for them. And come to think of it, the HSM series has gone a long way since it started as a TV movie.
